Eyelash extension prep and maintenance

Whether it’s your first time or if you’re a lash extension veteran, a little reminder can’t hurt!

We’re spilling the tea on how you can make your lash extensions last longer

As much as we love seeing your gorgeous face, we also want your lash extensions to look fuller for longer before you need a refill.

It starts with prep - what to do and not to do before your appointment

Don’t drink coffee before your appointment

We all need the bean juice to function but we don’t want to jab you in the eye. If you are caffeine sensitive or drink coffee/energy drinks too close to your appointment you’ll have a hard time staying still.

Remove your contacts

Your eyes will be closed during the application process so to avoid any discomfort, it is always suggested that you remove your contacts. This way your eyes will be in their natural resting state.

Leave your lashes alone

Coming to your appointment with a clean face will save time and eliminate the need for your lash technician to remove your eye makeup. The oils in moisturisers and sunscreen can prevent the eyelash glue from properly adhering to your natural lashes, dramatically reducing the longevity of your extensions.

Avoid using mascara, curling, or manipulating your lashes in any way prior to your appointment. Your lash set will look its best when applied to your natural lash state/shape.

You do you, boo - what you can do for longer lasting lashes

No tears around here

Keep your lashes as dry as possible for at least 24-36 hours so that means no crying or showering. However, if you need to wash your hair, use only lukewarm water, and keep water off your eyes.

This also includes avoiding steamy environments, very hot showers, chlorinated pools, spas, and saunas. for 24 hours minimum. If it’s a very hot and humid day, try to stay out of the heat. All of this will allow the adhesive to set as strong as possible.

Hands off x

Do not play with or pick at your lashes or rub your eyes roughly. This could damage or cause your real lashes to fall out, no one likes patchy eyelashes!

If you’re a tummy sleeper, first of all, how? Second of all, please don’t! Keep unnecessary contact with your beautiful lashes to a minimum.

Oil-free baby

Make sure you are using oil-free products on your face, particularly eye makeup removers and cleansers. If you have a very oily face, try to control this as much as possible with blotting papers, mattifying lotions, and by using oil-control moisturiser.

It’s best to wear minimal eye makeup, applying mascara only to the tips otherwise it can clump. Waterproof eye makeup is not ideal as it’s tough to remove and can pull out your lashes prematurely.

Keep ‘em clean to keep them keen

Give your lashes the TLC they need by washing them gently with a small dense makeup brush and lash shampoo a few times a week. This breaks down any oils that could potentially cause your lashes to detach from the lid by interfering with the glue.

Here’s how you can do it tears-free: Pour a tiny amount onto your pam, create foam with some water and use your brush or index finger and thumb to massage the lashes gently from base to tip.
